Privacy policy
Nutriful ("we", "us") makes the Nutriful iOS app. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and how it's handled. It applies to the app and to nutriful.app.
Information you provide or generate in the app
When you set up your plan, you tell us your name, sex, date of birth, height, weight, target weight, activity level, goal, dietary preferences and allergens. This is used to calculate your daily nutrition targets and Nutriful Score and to personalize the meal plans, recipes and grocery lists the app builds for you. It's stored in your private iCloud account (via Apple's CloudKit) so it syncs across your own devices — we don't share it between users.
Apple Health
If you choose to connect Apple Health, the app can read body metrics such as your sex, date of birth, height, weight and activity data, and can write nutrition and weight entries back to Health when you ask it to. You grant or remove this access in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Nutriful at any time, and the app works without it.
Some of these values — sex, age, height, weight, activity level and goal — are sent to our servers, because that's what our meal-planning and scoring depend on. We do not send your Health workout history, or any Health data beyond those specific profile metrics, to our servers or to anyone else. An anonymized age range may be shared with our subscription provider (RevenueCat) and your activity level and goal with our analytics provider (TelemetryDeck), each purely in aggregate, to understand product usage — never your name, exact birth date, or any other Health data.
Apple Reminders
If you turn on grocery-list sync, the app creates and updates items in a Reminders list you choose. This talks to Apple's Reminders app directly on your device; we don't receive a copy of your reminders.
Purchases and subscriptions
Nutriful+ subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to keep track of your entitlement (whether you have an active subscription) so the app can unlock Nutriful+ features; we never see your payment card details or Apple ID password.
Analytics and diagnostics
We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics provider, to see which features are used and to catch crashes. TelemetryDeck doesn't use device advertising identifiers and reports are aggregated, not tied to your name or account. You can turn this off at any time in Profile > Settings > Privacy.
Where things are stored
Your profile, plans, recipes and grocery lists live in your own private iCloud database, encrypted and managed by Apple under your Apple ID. Meal images and similar assets are served from our storage on DigitalOcean, in the EU. Requests to our API are encrypted in transit (TLS).
What we don't do
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
Your rights
You can view and correct almost everything the app holds about you directly in Profile > Edit Profile. To request a copy or deletion of your account data, or to ask us anything about this policy, email hello@nutriful.app. We keep your data only for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period for backups and legitimate business or legal needs, and delete it on request unless we're required to keep it for longer.
Children
Nutriful isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes, and post the new version here. If a change is material, we'll let you know in the app.
